I love going to the polls on Election Day to vote, but it's not easy for everyone. Now we have some options thanks to new laws championed by Rep. Steve Simon, now a candidate for Secretary of State.
Simon recognized that not everyone has the time and physical stamina to stand in long lines, and that limited polling hours, transportation, child care, weather and more can be barriers to voting. That's why Simon championed a new law that lets all Minnesota voters vote absentee without an excuse. Now we can each decide when and where to vote before Election Day.
Even better, Simon made it easier to request an absentee ballot. Now we can just go online and request our ballot for the Aug. 12 Primary Election and Nov. 4 General Election. It couldn't be easier.
Simon gave us one more convenient improvement in our elections. Now we can go online to register or update our registration. So goodbye long lines on election day, and hello modern world of voting.
Rep. Steve Simon has been busy modernizing our elections making the ballot more accessible to all voters. Just think what he'll be able to do as secretary of state. With his leadership, Minnesota is sure to remain the leader in voter turnout nationally. Thanks, Steve; you have my vote.
