Somebody had to check out the tip
So we got a call in the newsroom about 1:45 from somebody saying Miley Cyrus was at Chester's .
Nobody jumped up to dash over and check it out, and I was headed to coffee at B&N anyway, so I stopped by. P-B photographer Jerry Olson beat me to it, though he was milling around outside, a little unsure about how to ask the hostess or bartender, "Um, is Miley Cyrus here?" So I boldly went in and asked the bartender and she said, "Seriously? Somebody called?"
You bet, I said, and not only the managing editor but the most veteran photographer on the P-B staff were checking it out. I'd do the same if it was Arnold Palmer or Bob Dylan in town for a checkup.
Turns out, a young woman who LOOKED like Miley Cyrus was in "several hours ago" (more likely 2-3 hours) and didn't stay more than a minute after not finding a place she wanted to sit in what must have been the mostly vacant bar.
Carissa Merritt , the assistant GM at Chester's, confirmed the sad news and added, "She probably weighed about 30 pounds more" than Miley.
So it was up to me to sing "Wrecking Ball."
