Sorry to see cartoon canceled
I was sorry to see that on Feb. 12 the PB canceled the Non Sequitur cartoon, which is intended more for adults than children, as are most cartoons in any newspaper.
It wasn’t until stories appeared on the internet that I reread the cartoon published on Saturday, Feb. 9, using a magnifying glass to make out the small, hardly legible words at the bottom of panel two. I guess some readers are more observant and have better eyesight than me. There it was; the inappropriate word included in a message scrawled across the right bottom margin of the panel.
These days, as newspapers grow smaller due to higher costs and lower readership, there are few cartoons worth reading, and it is unfortunate that the PB has canceled one that has been a favorite among adults for over 25 years. I do not support the cancellation; perhaps, a 30-day moratorium would be more appropriate.
