The show begins at 9 a.m.

The latest on what could be a spectacular gas flare:

Good morning.  As part of a project to replace some natural gas pipeline this morning, Minnesota Energy Resources will burn off, or "flare," natural gas from the old pipeline.  MERC has chosen to flare the gas because to let it dissipate into the atmosphere, while not dangerous, might result in some concern by the public.  MERC expects to begin flaring the gas between 9 and 10 this morning at the intersection of Skyline Drive SW and W Frontage Road and will be quite visible to motorists on highways in the area.  The flaring should not last more than an hour.

Thank you.
