Rochester has been the beneficiary of many recent selfless acts of kindness and support as we embrace the final days of our 2013 Red Kettle Campaign. Helpful local media, and talented and unbelievable volunteers and staff have provided a unified force focused on Doing The Most Good. All of this will culminate as the last kettle is retrieved after 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 24.
A seemingly boundless population of beneficent donors have presented their gifts daily as a response to the ever-increasing need in Olmsted County. Coins, bills and checks reflect an awareness of the needs of the Rochester Salvation Army in its 117th year of providing food, shelter, clothing, medical and dental care, caregiver respite and so much more. The occasional "oddity" gives our kettle counters a chuckle or two during their time locked away in their fortress as Christmas favorites pour lightly out of the radio.
Rarely, a gift of particular value appears, as one did today from one of Rochester's dozens of Red Kettles. The donor's note says it all.

While we are not sure if we can TRIPLE this selfless act of generosity, we do promise to direct all gifts received as our mission asserts: "To preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination."
