Kevin Torgerson will continue a legacy of service as next sheriff. In 1970, my husband joined the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office following a four-year tour in the U.S. Air Force. For many years, my husband, Jim, worked with Kevin, until his retirement in 1993.
Less than 10 years into retirement, my husband became ill and passed away. Kevin immediately reached out to our family to extend his condolences and offer support. With one child starting college and the other in high school, Kevin knew this was a very hard time for our family. He came to our home and helped me plan my husband's funeral. Kevin played taps at the funeral to honor Jim's service as a deputy and service member. Kevin was a great support for my family.
Through the Law Enforcement Memorial Association, Kevin has supported the families, departments, and communities of fallen officers across the state. He has led planning teams at more than 10 line-of-duty deaths since 1999. He does this because he understands the importance of community and why the bond between officers, their families, and departments must always remain strong.
It's been 11 years and I still thank Kevin for this support. Please learn more about Kevin Torgerson and consider casting your vote for him.
