Pauline Vandenberg Stolp, 85, died peacefully at Sunrise Cottages in Rochester Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011.

Pauline was born April 5, 1926, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Christina Wilhelmina DeVos den Hague and John Jacob Seipman-Vandenberg den Amsterdam immigrants from Holland.

She was preceded in death by her older brother, John Vandenberg of Seattle, Wash., and is survived by her sister, Johanna Vandenberg, New York City.

Pauline lived in Wisconsin most of her life and married Northam H. Stolp. They lived in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., and had four daughters who survive her, Kathryn Stolp, Rochester, Nancy Goff, Wisconsin Rapids, Kristin Edwards, Hudson, Wis., and Sarah Trovato, Appleton, Wis. She has grandchildren, Michael and Christopher Stolp-Smith of Rochester, Casey Benner and Jesse Withers, Madeline and Megan Edwards and Daniel Trovato; along with five great-grandchildren, all living in Wisconsin.

Pauline was an avid cook, gardener and knitter, and crocheted. In her early years, she worked as a legal secretary. She enjoyed music, playing the organ and piano, the fine arts, and to the very end had a lovely sense of humor. She loved cats and dogs, the Northwoods of Wisconsin, swimming, and tennis. She was a loyal Green Bay Packer fan.

Most of all, she loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family thanks the staff at Mayo Clinic, Samaritan Bethany Heights, Madonna Meadows, The Homestead and Sunrise Cottages for their kindness to Pauline over the past several years.

A private family memorial service is planned.
