Richard Keith Grendahl, 71, of Minneapolis, died Friday, Aug. 19, 2011, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Minneapolis.
Graveside committal service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at Lands Lutheran Church Cemetery, with the Rev. David Krinke officiating.
Richard Keith Grendahl was born Sept. 25, 1939, in Goodhue County, to Melvin and Mary (Dvorak) Grendahl. He attended Wanamingo High School and graduated in 1957. He attended Augustana College and enlisted in the Air Force in 1959. Richard was a Communications Center Specialist in Montana and later transferred to Iceland. He was honorably discharged in 1961 and returned to Wanamingo.
Richard enjoyed leather work, chess, reading, music, automobiles and socializing with friends. In November 2000, he entered the Minnesota Veterans Home in Hastings and in 2007 he transferred to the Minnesota Veterans Home in Minneapolis.
Richard is survived by three brothers, Robert (Donna) Grendahl of Wadena, Marvin (Deborah) Grendahl of Anchorage, Alaska, and Darryl (Patricia) Grendahl of Brainerd; four nieces; and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Carl.
