Roch Mag took home the top category--Best Magazine Issue--for the November 2019 issue, which included profiles of the Rochester Police Department's K9 unit and of Dr. Bobbi Pritt, the director of Mayo’s Clinical Parasitology Laboratory.

"Well-written articles, great photography, and interesting design make Rochester Magazine a standout," wrote the judges. "Breakout boxes and calendars add so much to keep readers’ interest."

Associate Editor Jennifer Koski won the Best Magazine Department category for "Random Rochesterite."

"These columns are especially compelling because they prove that everyone has a story to tell," wrote the judges. "Questions to the interviewee are nicely tailored to their lives."

Editor Steve Lange took third place in the Best Magazine Department category for "10 (or so) Questions."

In the Best Magazine Cover category, Rochester Magazine took third place for the January 2019 cover of Mayor Kim Norton, which was photographed by Joe Ahlquist and designed by Art Director Lisa Houghton.

The Society of Professional Journalists, founded in 1909, is billed as the “oldest, largest and broadest-based organization of journalists in the United States.”
