MONTGOMERY — Pine Island's Brady Braaten was the difference-maker on Tuesday, scoring two touchdowns and rushing for 159 yards in a 16-6 road win over Tri-City United in the quarterfinal round of the Section 1AAA playoffs.
Braaten's first score covered 18 yards, and he added a 13-yarder in the second quarter.
That would be more than enough points for the No. 5 seed Panthers, who held No. 4 seed Tri-City to just 191 yards of total offense. The Panthers' Alex Aarsvold recorded a safety in the third quarter when he sacked Tri-City quarterback Peyton Collins in the end zone.
The game wasn't as close as the score would indicate, as Pine Island lost three fumbles and threw an interception.
Pine Island quarterback Keegan Majerus completed 8 of 11 passes for 82 yards. Joe Bauer and Jake Navratil had three catches apiece.
