BOSTON — Three southeastern Minnesota runners broke the three-hour mark and finished in the top 1,800 of Monday's Boston Marathon.
Tyler Culver, James Onigkeit and Andy Hemenway -- all of Rochester -- came in under the three-hour mark.
The top female finisher from the area was Amy Olson of Red Wing, who had a time of 3 hours, 12 minutes, 25 seconds.
A Venezuelan man with muscular dystrophy was honored at City Hall on Tuesday after enduring about 20 hours of sometimes drenching rain, wind and cold to complete the Boston Marathon in the early morning hours.
Maickel Melamed finished at about 5 a.m., becoming the last athlete to complete the storied 26.2-mile race, which started Monday morning.
