BOYS BASKETBALL

THREE RIVERS CONFERENCE

Kooper Vaughn had a monster season opener with 63 points as St. Charles outscored Fillmore Central 91-77. Vaughn broke his own single-game record of 52 points in the contest as well as the all-time school record as he passed Aaron Leistikow (1,298 points). Vaughn tied his own school mark with 11 3-pointers in the game. Zach Haugerud paced Fillmore Central with 25 points and Jake Fishbaugher added 17.

Justin Ruberg scored 21 points as Rushford-Peterson topped Dover-Eyota 63-52. Tyler Johnson paced D-E with 18 points.

Thomas Menk splashed four 3-pointers and finished with 22 points in Lewiston-Altura's 79-40 victory over Cotter.

• No Eli King, no problem. Austin Klug erupted for 23 points and Andrew Kunelius added 18 in Caledonia's 94-70 victory over Chatfield. Reid Johnson scored 23 points for the Gophers.

Conner Schumacher had 25 points and Blake Herber added 21 in Plainview-Elgin-Millville's 71-40 victory over La Crescent.

HIAWATHA VALLEY LEAGUE

Tanner Gates had 16 points and six rebounds, while Landen Chandler added 15 points and four steals in Zumbrota-Mazeppa's 63-44 win over Pine Island.

• Cannon Falls got 26 points from Marcus Banks and 12 points from Camden Dicke as it came from behind and edged Kenyon-Wanamingo 61-54. Laden Nerison had 24 points for K-W.

Will Tschetter scored 28 points in Stewartville's 53-38 victory over a hard-nosed Goodhue squad. Will Opsahl had a team-high 13 points for the Wildcats.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

HIAWATHA VALLEY LEAGUE

Raelyn Stiller drained six 3-pointers and scored 22 points to lead Zumbrota-Mazeppa past Pine Island 55-41.

• Triton's Brylee Iverson had 21 points, but it wasn't enough as Sacia Vanderpool (25 points) and Kendra Harvey (15 points) combined for 40 points in Byron's 80-36 victory over the Cobras.

• Four Tigers cracked double figures to spark Stewartville to a huge 68-61 victory over Goodhue. Elissa Lodermeier scored a game-high 23 points for Goodhue.

Belle Freeberg scored 11 points to lead a balanced Cannon Falls team past Kenyon-Wanamingo 57-17.

• It was tied at 29 at the half, but Kasson-Mantorville ran away from a really good Lake City team in the second half. K-M drained 14 3-pointers in the 69-52 win. Avery Irish (22 points) had five 3-pointers, and Aby Shubert (19 points) added four of her own. Natalie Bremer led the way for Lake City with 20 points.

SOUTHEAST CONFERENCE

Jessie Schreiber and Malia Tessum both scored nine points, but it wasn't enough as Lanesboro toppled Schaeffer Academy 58-29. Brielle Ruen drained four 3-pointers and scored a team-high 22 points for Lanesboro.

THREE RIVERS CONFERENCE

• Caledonia cruised to a 61-42 victory over Chatfield thanks to 25 points from Ava Privet. Jaiden Zimmerman added 17 points for Chatfield.

Megan Morgan and Olivia Gardner both had 18 points in Cotter’s 73-35 victory over Lewiston-Altura.

NON-CONFERENCE

Megan Oswald had 16 points in Blooming Prairie's 63-24 dismantling of Lyle/Pacelli.

BOYS SWIMMING/DIVING

Owen Nord won two individual events (50 freestyle, 100 butterfly) and was part of two winning relays, but Century suffered a 96-87 loss to Northfield. Jack Homme won the 200 freestyle and was part of two winning relays for Century.

Logan Kelly won two individual events (50 freestyle, 100 breaststroke) and was part of two winning relays in Austin's 96-81 loss to Mankato East.

Jacob Flemke (100 butterfly, 100 backstroke), Aidan O'Brien (200 IM, 100 breaststroke) and Graham Achen (50 freestyle, 500 freestyle) all won two individual events and were part of two winning relays as Red Wing transposed Albert Lea 94-49.

BOYS ALPINE SKIING

• Century’s Max Sargent finished first in a six-team Big Nine Conference meet at Welch Village. The senior was timed in 1:00.17. Mayo’s Jake Vandal was third in 1:07.68.

GIRLS ALPINE SKIING

John Marshall’s Ella Pattinson and Emily Leitzen were the top two Rochester finishers in a six-team Big Nine Conference meet at Welch Village. Pattinson was timed in 1:17.03, Leitzen in 1:17.68.
