BIG NINE CONFERENCE

Peyton Milene delivered a big two-run triple off the right=field fence in the fifth inning to cap off a five-run frame and tie the game, but Albert Lea scored two in the top of the seventh and shut down a Century rally to nip the Panthers 7-6.

HIAWATHA VALLEY LEAGUE

Sam Stanley and Jordan Borgeson both finished with three hits and Carter Wenszell sparkled with four innings of one-hit ball in Lourdes' 13-3 win over Goodhue. Ethan Matthees doubled and drove in a pair of runs for Goodhue.

THREE RIVERS CONFERENCE

Matthew Keller went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored in Plainview-Elgin-Millville’s 11-1 six-inning win over Fillmore Central/Lanesboro.

Matthew Schleich went 3-for-3 to spark Cotter to a 6-1 win over Dover-Eyota. The Eagles could managed only three hits.

SOUTHEAST CONFERENCE

Cayden Tollefsrud had three hits, including a double and a triple, and Alex Arneson had three hits and two RBIs in Mabel-Canton’s 12-2 five-inning win over Houston.

NON-CONFERENCE

• Wabasha-Kellogg’s pitchers Garrett Pavelka and Brady Wodele combined for a two-hitter in the Falcons’ 6-0 win over Schaeffer Academy. Klayton Hawkins had two hits, including a triple. Lukas Busch also had a pair of hits.

• After Stewartville tied it at 4 with a run in the sixth inning, Chatfield walked it off for a 5-4 eight-inning victory. Tate Karver, Henry Gathje and Caden Nolte all had two hits for Chatfield. Miles Hettinger pitched seven innings, allowing just one earned run for Stewartville in a losing effort.

Jackson Schroeder smoked a pair of two-run bombs and that was all Byron needed to cruise past Lewiston-Altura 11-1.

Johnny Bauer went 3-for-5 with a double and two stolen bases in Pine Island’s 13-11 win over Tri-City United. Tanner Horton was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs and Graham Majors was 2-for-5 with a double and three RBIs.

Kaylee Peter went 3-for-3 with four RBIs in Plainview-Elgin-Millville’s 12-2 five-inning win over Fillmore Central/Lanesboro.

SOFTBALL

HIAWATHA VALLEY LEAGUE

• Pine Island scored 14 runs in the second inning and blew out Triton 21-2 in four innings. Bella Mehrkens was a perfect 5-for-5 with a double. Shaelyn Predmore went 3-for-3 with a home run. Noelle Douglas also homered.

THREE RIVERS CONFERENCE

Cotter got all five of its runs in the first two innings and then hung on to beat Dover-Eyota 5-0. Hailey Biesanz and Ali French each went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Lexi Hadaway went 2-3 with two RBIs.

SOUTHEAST CONFERENCE

• Mabel-Canton’s Lauren Wyffels and Kenidi McCabe each had two hits, including a double apiece, as the Cougars beat Houston 5-3. Emily Carolan pitched seven innings and allowed just two hits and three walks.

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

PLAINVIEW-ELGIN-MILLVILLE MEET

Kaiden Peters, Glenn Schmidt, Kyler Bade, Nick Wonzey and Leo Silha dominated the field events to spark Plainview-Elgin-Millville to a victory over GMLOS, Stewartville, Cotter and Lake City. P-E-M finished with 132 team points. GMLOS took second with 90 team points thanks to a victory from Christian Hjlemen at the 800-meter race. Stewartville (72 team points) got a terrific showing from Will Tschetter in the discus (162-1) and Jake Helferty in the 100-meter hurdles (18.85 seconds). Luke Gardner won the 400-meter dash and James Greshik won the 300-meter hurdles for Cotter (40 team points). Lake City earned 37 team points and Reece Anderson cruised to a win in the 3,200 with a terrific time of 4:40.01.

ST. CHARLES TRIANGULAR

• St. Charles’ Luke Berends swept the 100 and 200 in a triangular meet at St. Charles. He was timed in 11.73 and 23.11, respectively. The Saints won the meet with a 98-point total. Lewiston-Altura was second (58) and Wabasha-Kellogg third (nine).

GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD

• St. Charles’ Lindsey Root continued her torrid start to the season, setting a school record in the 200 at a St. Charles triangular meet with Lewiston-Altura and Wabasha-Kellogg. Root was timed in 26.59 in the 200. She also won the long jump (17-feet-3 1/2) and was a part of two winning relays, the 4x200 and 4x400. The Saints won the meet with a 79 score. L-A scored 54 points and W-K 21. St. Charles’ Lucia Smith won both hurdles events

GIRLS GOLF

THREE RIVERS CONFERENCE

Jenna Wiebke fired a 43 in Caledonia's 29-stroke victory over Lewiston-Altura/Rushford-Peterson. Caledonia's Ally Jilek shot a 47. Halle Mcelmury shot a team-best 49 for LARP.

BOYS GOLF

THREE RIVERS CONFERENCE

• Lewiston-Altura/Rushford-Peterson’s Andrew Hoiness shot a 38 in guiding his team to a 175-212 win over Caledonia at Ferndale Golf Course.
