MINNEAPOLIS — Reminder: Never count out the Rochester Lourdes girls tennis team this time of year.
The No. 6-ranked Eagles have done it again, pushing their way into the state Class A championship. After scoring their second upset in as many days, Lourdes will take on No. 1 ranked Blake at 4 p.m. today in the championship at Reed-Sweatt Tennis Center.
Lourdes, the defending state champion, got there by beating No. 2 ranked St. James 4-3 on Wednesday morning. On Tuesday, the Eagles upended No. 3 ranked Waseca 5-2.
Delivering singles wins against St. James were Margaret Pearson, Sofia Terzic (three sets) and Lucy Hansen. In doubles, Lourdes' winners were Kristen Brandhagen and Rachel Kamath (two tie-breakers).
Lourdes is now 15-5 overall.
