BURNSVILLE — The Rochester A's played some of their best baseball of the season but still finished 1-4 in the tough Gopher Classic.
The A's ended the tournament with a 2-1 loss to Shakopee on Sunday. On Saturday, they beat Sioux Falls West 6-3 and lost to East Grand Forks 6-2.
The A's were solid against Shakopee, but failed to get baserunners in. That included leaving the bases loaded in the seventh inning.
The A's outhit Shakopee 9-6.
"We hit the ball hard either at someone or Shakopee made a nice play in the field," A's coach Jordan Kangas said.

The A's also had a runner thrown at the plate in the fourth inning.
Jordan Jasik was 3-for-4 with a run scored, and Riese Zmolek was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Josh Bakken took the pitching loss, working six strong innings.
• Nick Smith allowed just three runs over 6 1/3 innings and the Rochester A's beat Sioux Falls West 6-3.
Tyler Gathman had threee hits and an RBI, and Nicholas Smith had three hits and scored a run.
• The A's fell 6-2 to East Grand Forks. That was despite outhiting EGF 9-5.
The A's were hurt by three errors.
Nicholas Smith had three hits and Jordan Jasik had two.
