WASECA — The Austin Packers boys hockey team lost 9-3 to Simley on Tuesday in the first round of the Waseca Holiday Tournament.
In the first period, the Packers defense was unable to contain the offensive firepower of the Simley Spartans. Coming hard and fast at the Austin net, the Simley boys took a 5-0 lead after the first period of this game at the Waseca Community Arena.
Although they had dug too big of a hole to climb out of in this tourney game, the Packers didn't quit and came away with three goals on the day.
Ethan Larson scored a pair of goals for the Packers on the day. Preston Moe added the third goal for the Packers in the road loss.
Austin (2-6 overall) returns to the Waseca Community Center on Thursday afternoon for a game against Minnehaha Academy in the second round of the holiday tournament.
