FARIBAULT — The Austin Packers boys track and field team placed second in a Big Nine Conference triangular meet hosted by the Faribault Falcons.
The Packers had a total of seven first-place finishes on Tuesday at the Bruce Smith Track. Most of those came in the running events, but there was also a first in the relays, and out in the field events.
"The boys performed well and had several first-place finishes including two from Omot Okello in the hurdles and one from Mason Wollersheim in the 1,600 meters," Austin coach Tony Einertson said. "The boys continue to improve and put up a lot of season best times in this meet."
Andrew Baker of Austin ran to the top spot in the 3,200 meters. The 400 relay team of Francisco Torres, Caleb Bentley, Jacob Hagen-Erickson, and Zach Vierkandt finished first in that event.
In the field events, the Packers also had a pair of first-place finishes. Caleb Bentley went over 19-feet in the long jump and took the top spot. Andrew Hagan of the Packers took first in the shot put.
