Auto racing: Hobs is a winner again at Chateau

LANSING — Rick Hobs stayed hot at Chateau Raceway on Friday night, winning his seventh feature race of the season.

Hobs, of Deer Park, Wis., was first in the Sprint Car action. In doing that he took over the points lead for the series from James Giossi. Giossi was just 10th Friday.

Ty Sampair landed second in the Sprint Car race. He started the contest in the front row. Kobs rocketed out of the inside of Row 2 on the start. He went right to the front and stayed there. Kobs was also his heat's winner.

Dan Wheeler (Savage) notched his fourth feature win of the season by claiming the WISSOTA Midwest Modified main event. Billy Steinberg led the first six laps, but settled for third behind Wheeler and Brayten Cisneros.

Other feature winners Friday were: Daniel Guttormson (Pure Stocks), Mike Blowers (USRA B Modified), Brandon Davis (USRA A Modified), Kadden Kath (USRA B Modified) and Patrick Wells (Hornet).
