Rochester Lourdes won a high school football state championship in the fall, and now the Eagles have their eye on another prize: A state baseball crown.

Lourdes rolled through the football season unbeaten and capped it with a 35-14 win over New London-Spicer in the Class AAA.

Now, 10 of the same athletes have the Eagles baseball team unbeaten on the verge of another playoff run.

Lourdes (19-0) is the No. 1 seed in the Section 1AA West tournament and opens Thursday at home against No. 8 seed Zumbrota-Mazeppa (2-15), a team it 10-runned in mid April.

The Eagles, under head coach Dan Herold, fly into the playoffs with a .414 team batting average and averaging 8.4 runs per game. The team pitching ERA (1.62) is also formidable.
