Sophomore Kyle Ebert tossed a two-hitter as John Marshall collected its first win in baseball with a 8-1 victory over Albert Lea in Big Nine Conference play Thursday.
Ebert struck out seven and allowed just one unearned run. Albert Lea was playing its season opener.
Mathew Cwikla drove in three runs to spark the offense for JM (1-3, 1-2 Big Nine). Aaron Limberg and Caleb Gronholz both had two hits for the Rockets while Sam Lingen had two RBIs.
"(The) guys are starting to get comfortable at the plate and are coming to life offensively," JM coach Jade Boettcher. "We executed some small ball early and drove the ball late. Sophomore Kyle Ebert threw a gem. He was in total control from the first pitch and got stronger as the game went on."
