Rochester Mayo rallied for four runs in the second inning and Jackson Douglas struck out 13 in a complete game as the Spartans beat visiting Mankato West 4-3 on Tuesday in Big Nine Conference baseball.

Mayo won despite just three hits in the game, as Douglas scattered four hits and walked none in a complete game.

Mayo improved to 10-3 overall and 10-2 in the Big Nine to maintain its share of the conference lead. West is 10-4, 9-4 in conference.

"Jackson threw an excellent game," said Mayo coach Dan Hoefs. He noted that West pitcher Ryan Theissen was also tough with nine strikeouts.

"Theissen had an excellent curve ball and it definitely gave us trouble," Hoefs said. "Mankato West is an excellent team and tonight's win was a great team win for us."
