Sam Hinsch settled in and helped Mayo roll to a 7-1 Big Nine Conference baseball win over Faribault on Monday.
Hinsch, who allowed his only run in the first inning, wound up tossing a four-hitter over seven innings. He walked just two and struck out eight.
Hinsch also homered for Mayo.
"Sam Hinsch had a great game today," Mayo coach Dan Hoefs said. "After giving up the run in the first inning he had command of the strike zone and threw shutout baseball the rest of the way."
Hinsch had two hits.

Tate Deach had a double and an RBI for Mayo. Michael Michalak had two hits.
