The Rochester Royals offense continued its hot start to the young amateur baseball season during a pair of wins over the weekend.
The Royals rallied for three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning on Saturday night to nip Stewartville-Racine 11-10. Rochester then posted a 9-2 win over Cannon Falls on Sunday.
Mac Horvath hit a solo homer in the first inning against Stewartville-Racine and then added a three-run homer in the second inning. That gave Horvath homers in three straight at-bats starting with a home run in his final at-bat of Thursday's season opener. He finished the game 2-for-4 with four RBIs.
Sam Warren started the ninth-inning comeback against Stewartville-Racine with a solo homer. Alex Prindle walked with the bases loaded to tie the game at 10-10 and Alex Holets hit a single to drive in the winning run.
Holets finished 2-for-5 with two RBIs and Jared Campbell hit an RBI triple.
Matt Meyer, the fourth Royals pitcher, allowed one run over three innings to earn the win. He struck out six.
Jade Boettcher went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for the Sharks while Tyler Nelson and Sean Hohmeister both had two hits.
In the win over Cannon Falls, Michael Michalak drove in three runs for the Royals without the benefit of a hit. Warren and Logan Milene were both 2-for-4 with two RBIs while Prindle and Hayden Brown were both 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Prindle, Milene, Holets and Travis Rittenhouse all hit doubles.
The Royals (3-0) have now scored 32 runs in three games.
Erik Thorvilson and Ryan Maiers both pitched four innings for the Royals. Thorvilson allowed two runs in the first inning. Maiers, who allowed three hits over four scoreless innings, collected the win.
The Royals will host New Market at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Mayo Field.
