After being held scoreless for four innings, the Rochester Royals used a pair of huge innings to topple the Lake City Serpents 16-3 in amateur baseball on Wednesday night at Mayo Field.

Jacob Duden held the Royals in check the first four innings, but he did not survive the fifth. The Royals erupted for nine runs in the fifth inning. Duden, who suffered the loss, allowed the first seven runs, with just two being earned.

The Royals trailed 1-0 going into the bottom of the fifth. They countered with seven more runs in the sixth and won the game in seven innings.

Alex Holets and Nick Pearson both drove in three runs for the Royals while Michael Michalak and Alex Prindle had two RBIs each. Pearson went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three runs scored. Michalak and Holets both had two hits and each hit a double, as did Jared Campbell, Hayden Brown and Prindle. The Royals finished with 11 hits.

Derek Lilledahl pitched the first 5 1/3 innings to collect the win for Rochester. He allowed three runs, two earned on six hits. He struck out five and walked two. Ryan Maiers followed with 1 2/3 perfect innings.

Hunter Baab went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Lake City. Both of his hits were doubles.

The Royals (6-3) will play at the Dundas Dukes at 7:30 p.m. Friday in a Section 1B game.
