Mac Horvath drove in five runs and the Rochester Royals snapped a three-game losing streak with a 13-3 win over Miesville in amateur baseball on Friday night at Mayo Field.
The Royals won the game in seven innings and had a pair of big innings at the plate. They scored six runs in the bottom of the first, with all the runs scoring after two were out, and added five runs in the fourth.
Mitch Brown was also strong on the mound as he pitched all seven innings for the Royals.
Horvath had a big three-run double in the first to put the Royals up 4-0. Jared Campbell and Hayden Brown also had RBI singles in the inning.
Campbell and Brown both finished with three RBIs. In the fourth, both players had two-run singles.
Jake Halverson was 4-for-5 for the Royals while Brown was 3-for-3. Horvath finished 2-for-2 as he also had an RBI single in the second and walked with the bases loaded in the fourth. Campbell was 2-for-3 while Drew Block scored three runs. Halverson, Campbell and Sam Warren all scored two runs.
The Royals finished with 13 hits.
Brown allowed five hits and three earned runs in his seven innings of pitching. He struck out eight and walked one.
The Royals had lost to the Mudhens 11-7 earlier this season.
Rochester improves to 7-6 overall and 3-5 in Section 1B play. The Royals were slated to play at New Market at 2 p.m. Saturday in a section game. The Royals then have two more section games -- at home on July 29 and 31 -- to close the regular season before the start of the section playoffs.
