An extra 95 fans a game are now being allowed to view Rochester Honkers baseball home games.
The City of Rochester approved on Monday to allow the Honkers to increase their home game capacity from a maximum of 250 fans to 345 fans a game at Mayo Field. The number of fans has been limited this season due to COVID-19.
The extra fans will be allowed starting with Tuesday's 6:35 p.m. game against Waterloo.
"We are thrilled to be able to welcome more fans to Mayo Field this season," Honkers general manager Jeremy Aagard said. "We have taken every precaution to ensure our increased capacity still remains safe while creating life-long family memories at the ballpark."
Mayo Field will consist of two "pods" for fans during Honkers game.s Pod One will consist of 250 season ticket holders in the main grandstand.
Pod Two will allow 100 additional season ticket holders to sit in the Flight Deck and DHS Patio. Fans with tickets in Pod Two will be required to stay in those two areas of Mayo Field.
Each pod is required to have its own entrance/exit, bathrooms and concession stands. Contact between the two pods will not be allowed.
The Honkers are scheduled to have a dozen more home games during the regular season, with the last one slated for Aug. 19.
