Tanner Tweedt cranked a game-tying three-run homer in the fourth inning, but Waterloo held off the Honkers 5-3 in a rain-shortened, eight-inning contest.

Waterloo jumped out to a 3-0 advantage but Aaron Simmons and Robert Moore drew walks to set up Tweedt's big fly. But Waterloo came right back with two runs in the fifth inning and the Honkers didn't tally a hit after Tweedt's homer.

Rochester starter Charles Harrison allowed five hits and three earned runs in four innings. But Tweedt's homer took him off the hook for the loss. Reliever Ben Byom allowed two hits and two earned runs with two walks in 1 2/3 innings. Michael Anderson retired all four hitters he faced.

Taison Corio and Nick Thimsen recorded the only other hits for Rochester.

Waterloo took the lead in the fifth thanks to an RBI single from Ryan Guardino and a wild pitch by Byom. A deluge of rain hit Mayo Field in the top of the eighth inning.
