WINONA — Rochester John Marshall didn't get off to good start. But it certainly finished well as it blasted Winona 87-58 in Big Nine Conference boys basketball Tuesday.

WINONA — Rochester John Marshall didn't get off to good start. But it certainly finished well as it blasted Winona 87-58 in Big Nine Conference boys basketball Tuesday.

JM led just 37-28 at intermission.

"We came out a little sluggish tonight but played pretty well on the offensive and defensive ends of the floor," JM coach Kirk Thompson said. "The second half was much better for us scoring 50 points and ending the night with great balance and five guys in double figures."

JM moved to 6-0 in the Big Nine and 6-1 overall. Winona is a struggling 1-5, 1-6.

JM finished with excellent balance, with five players in double figures. Guard/forward D'Angelo Tines led the way with 20 points and hit three 3-pointers. Michael Hurt had 18 points (also 10 rebounds, seven assists, five steals), Matthew Hurt 17 points (six assists), Isaiah Walden 12 points (four steals) and Ray Adams 10 points.

Winona got 13 points from Phillipp Appicelli.
