Century 61, John Marshall 48

Century used a big second half to post a 61-48 home victory over John Marshall in Big Nine Conference boys basketball on Thursday night.

The game was tied 21-21 at the half before the Panthers went on a 40-27 scoring run over the final 18 minutes.

"Good defense intensity and energy led us to a 40-point second half," Century coach Jacob Vetter said.

Noah Deedrick led Century with 13 points. The Panthers had four other players with seven or eight points. Peter Lynch had eight points and 10 rebounds.

Aballa Bagutti hit three 3-pointers and led JM with 15 points, while Grant Klebig had 11 points and Carl Luedtke 10.

Century (1-1, 1-1 Big Nine) plays at Albert Lea at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. JM (0-2, 0-2 Big Nine) hosts Owatonna at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

Mankato East 71, Mayo 57

Mankato East had a pair of players score 20 or more points in a 71-57 victory over Mayo in Big Nine Conference play on Thursday.

BJ Omot scored 25 points for the visiting Cougars while Sean Clement hit four 3-pointers and finished with 20 points.

"Mankato East is a well coached, disciplined team," Mayo coach Kevin Landrum said. "They played well on both ends of the floor and made things difficult for us on both ends."

Senior guard Michael Sharp paced Mayo with 16 points while Andre Crocket Jr. scored 13 points and Isiah Hanson added 12. All three players made two 3-pointers.

Mayo (0-2, 0-2 Big Nine) will host Northfield at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

DODGE CENTER -- Haevan Quimby drained five 3-pointrs and tallied 26 points as Triton nipped Lourdes 66-63 in Hiawatha Valley League play.

Jaxon Sackett scored 16 points for Triton and Owen Peterson added 11.

The Cobras (2-1, 1-0 HVL) held on despite going just 12-for-26 at the line.

Aidan Jahns led Lourdes with 16 points and he added five rebounds. Robbie Haedt scored 10 points for the Eagles and Peyton Dunham pulled down 14 rebounds.

Lourdes (1-1, 0-1 HVL) plays at Lake City at 7:15 p.m. Friday.

SPRING GROVE -- Spring Grove had four players score in double figures in a 67-28 victory over Schaeffer Academy on Thursday in Southeast Conference play.

Spring Grove, the favorite in the SEC, is now 3-0 overall and in league play.

Caden Grinde paced Spring Grove with 26 points while his younger brother, Tysen, chipped in with 14.

Luke Bothun had nine points to pace Schaeffer (2-1, 2-1 SEC), which suffered its first loss.
