MAYO 65, NORTHFIELD 45

Mullk Hammadelniel poured in 21 points while Hannah Hanson (13 points) and Lynnsey Hady (13 points) had strong performances in Mayo's 65-45 win over Northfield.

Mayo improved to 3-0 and dominated Northfield on the glass. Elli Collins ripped down 13 rebounds and Anna Miller had 10 of her own.

"We had a little foul trouble early but Mullk Hammadelniel hit four big threes in the first half to keep us in control," Mayo coach Ryan Carpenter said. "Elli Collins really helped us down the stretch by seemingly grabbing every rebound."

Lilly Meister was unstoppable, totaling 27 points while Katie Hurt added 16 points in John Marshall's 67-52 victory over Owatonna.

JM led by 16 points at intermission and was never really threatened.

"First game on the road is always tough so it was nice to get a win," JM coach Phil Schroeder said. "It was good to get scoring from multiple players. We've got a ways to go and need to improve in many areas, but I like the work ethic of this group and the progress they've made."

Century got in the win column thanks to a spirited 56-47 victory against Albert Lea. Taylor Clarey had a monster performance, racking up 24 points and draining four 3-pointers. She was one of eight Panthers to crack the scoring column.

"Today was a great team win," Century coach Chadd Clarey said. "The girls worked hard this week on winning the battle on the boards and it paid off. We had great energy and it was nice to get the first win of the season under our belts. Our patience on offense led to quality shots that we were able to knock down today."
