Beep Baseball World Series return to city

The 2014 National Beep Baseball Association World Series is returning to Rochester.

The National Beep Baseball Association World Series, which was held in Rochester in August of 2010, returns to the city this week as 19 teams compete for the championship.

The 2014 National Beep Baseball Association World Series is returning to Rochester.

A total of 19 teams from all across the country will compete for the title. Play begins at 9 a.m. on Tuesday and runs all week. The championship game will be at 11 a.m. Saturday. All games will be played at the Fuad Mansour Soccer Complex in southeast Rochester.

Beep Baseball is an game designed for the visually impaired where the balls beep and bases buzz. The games was introduced in 1975 in Minneapolis and the first World Series was held in St. Paul in 1976.

This season marks the third time that Rochester will host the championship. The NBBA World Series was also held here in 2007 and 2010.

"The game of Beep Baseball is very entertaining and spectator friendly," said Ed Hruska, executive director of the RASC. "These athletes train hard all year to test their skills against the best Beep Baseball teams in the country. And we are excited to have them back in Rochester next week."
