Blue Devils fall to Western Wisconsin

LA CROSSE, Wis. — The Riverland Community College men's basketball team is trying to make a late-season push to get into the state tournament.

But Wednesday night's 95-82 loss to Western Wisconsin Tech won't help the Blue Devils' cause.

The loss puts Riverland in a tough spot with just one regular-season game remaining. They now will need a win in their final game and some help from other teams in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference in order to make the state tournament, which starts March 1 in Anoka.

The Blue Devils dropped to 12-14 overall and 5-8 in the MCAC's South Division. Western Wisconsin Tech improved to 3-10 in the MCAC South.

Riverland closes the regular season Saturday on the road in Worthington against Minnesota West, which suffered a loss to Rochester Community and Technical College on Wednesday night.
