FARIBAULT — Longtime Faribault Bethlehem Academy boys basketball coach Franz Boelter announced his retirement.
Boelter, who was inducted into the Minnesota State Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2012, has been a head coach for 36 years, the past 30 at FBA.
He has a 613-290 record, placing him seventh all-time in Minnesota for career wins.
FBA finished with a 15-14 record this year. The Cardinals won 14 Gopher Conference championships, eight district or sub-section championships and four section titles.
They were state Class A runners-up in 1993 and finished third in 1994. FBA also made state tournament appearances in 2002 and 2009.

Boelter will continue as the director of advancement at FBA and also keep coaching volleyball.
As a volleyball coach, Boelter has a record of 510-130 in 22 years with 10 state tournament appearances. The Cardinals have won six Class A state titles with four runners-up.
