Austin wins its season opener
AUSTIN — Austin got off to a slow start, but made up for it with a strong finish Tuesday as it blew past winless Winona 59-44 in Big Nine Conference boys basketball.
Austin led by just seven with with just under four minutes left in regulation before surging at the end in its season opener.
Gach Gach led the way for the Packers with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Gach is the lone returning starter for an Austin team that made it to the state Class AAA final for the second straight season last year.

Zach Coffey had 13 points for the Packers.
Winona slipped to 0-2.
