AUSTIN — Austin stayed unbeaten on Friday night as it used hot shooting and strong defense to beat Rochester Mayo 79-50 in Big Nine Conference boys basketball.
The Packers are now 2-0 in the Big Nine and 3-0 overall. Mayo slips to 1-3, 1-4.
Mayo coach Shaun Lang gave the Packers lots of credit.
"Austin overwhelmed us early with their aggressive zone traps and their hot shooting from the perimeter," Lang said. "They do what they do very well and we did not respond the way we wanted to. Lots of turnovers on our end made for a very frustrating night."
Austin was led by Duoth Gach with 15 points. Both Gach had 12 points, and Oman Oman and Mark Manyuon had 11 points each.
