John Marshall was way too much for Winona on Tuesday, drilling the Winhawks 76-39 in Big Nine Conference boys basketball at JM.
The Rockets had 10 players score en route to the balanced win. JM also used tenacity on the defensive end in the second half to get it done. The Rockets led just 35-27 at intermission. JM went on a 31-4 scoring run to finish the game.
"I thought our defensive energy in the second half gave us a real solid boost in what was a good team victory," JM coach Kirk Thompson said.
Star forward Michael Hurt led the team in virtually every category. The 6-foot-7 junior had 15 points, 14 rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Eighth-grader Matthew Hurt had 13 points and five rebounds, D'Angelo Tines had nine points, and DJ Hardin and Isaiah Walden eight each. Brady Tuckner ripped down eight rebounds.
