Rochester Lourdes got a bit of a scare, but wound up sailing in the end, beating Pine Island 67-51 in the Section One, Class AA West boys basketball quarterfinals Saturday night.
No. 4 seed Lourdes (15-11) trailed No. 5 seed Pine Island (11-14) 27-26 at halftime, and 39-31 with about 10 minutes left in regulation.
The Eagles righted themselves late, though, upping their defense and hitting key shots.
"We kind of changed up our defense and made some shots," Lourdes coach Jim Daly said. "It's a hit-and-miss game. We made some shots and made some key plays."
Lourdes had also had a tough time against Pine Island earlier this season, escaping with a buzzer-beating two-point win on Dec. 3.

Lourdes placed four players in double figures, led by guard Nick Hanson with 17 points. Jacob Schaefer had 14, Andre Stewart 14 and Dan Sloan 13. Stewart hit four of his team's six 3-pointers.
"I think that's the first time we've had four players in double figures all season," Daly said.
Pine Island was led by Ben Warneke with 18 points and Broc Finstuen with 12.
Next up for Lourdes is a semifinal-round game at 6 p.m. Monday at Mayo Civic Arena.
