The Spartans rode 10 3-pointer to do it. Dan Jech, who had 21 points and 11 rebounds, buried four 3's. Lucas Ellerbush had three 3-pointers and finished with 11 points.

Mayo coach Shaun Lang was pleased to get a win in his team's final regular-season home game.

"Tonight's win was a great way for us to celebrate our seniors," Lang said. "We started with a lot of energy in both halves. And credit Faribault for finishing each strong to make it a competitive battle right until the final buzzer."

Mayo (11-10 Big Nine, 13-11) led just 32-30 at intermission.

The Spartans also rode excellence balance. Kyle Wernstrom (12 points), Grant Coleman (11) and Caleb Adams (10) joined Jech and Ellerbusch in double figures.

Mayo outscored Faribault 13-6 from the free-throw line.

The Falcons (7-14, 11-14) were led by Brady Combs with 16 points. He hit four 3-pointers.
