MISSOTA CONFERENCE
Red Wing
Coach: Doug Toivonen
2012-13 record:15-13, 4-10 Missota Conference.
Notes:The Wingers have five players back who started some games a year ago and their top three scorers returning in Ty Buck (15.0 ppg), Isaac Toivonen (10 ppg) and Joe Sevlie (10 ppg). Buck was All-Conference a year ago. He and Toivonen, Sevlie, Ben Miller and Marcus Veith are all in the 6-3 to 6-4 range. "Our experience and offensive depth should be a strength," coach Doug Toivonen said. The coach said the team is not as quick as in the past and the interior defense will suffer until Isaac Toivonen returns from a football injury. Coach Toivonen lists Farmington and Shakopee as the conference favorites and he hopes the Wingers can finish in the top half of the league. "We think we are going to be able to compete with the best teams if we play up to our capabilities," the coach said. "We will need some underclassmen to step up, but I think they are ready for the responsibility."

GOPHER CONFERNCE
Blooming Prairie
Coach:John Bruns
2012-13 record:18-10, 10-4 Gopher Conference.
Notes:The Awesome Blossoms have three starters back from last year's team that was the Section 1A runner-up to Rushford-Peterson. Included is 6-6 junior John Rumpza(21.5 ppg, 12.4 rpg) who has been named All-Conference the past two seasons and has already topped the 1,000-point mark in his career. Weston Fiebiger, Jacob Decker, Anthony Nelson, Brett Wacek and Collin Yankoviak are all back, and each averaged between 2.6 and 4.5 points last year. Wacek is still recovering from a broken foot suffered in football and several others are also battling back from injuries. The Blossoms also have to make up for the loss of Michael Thomas, who averaged 18.4 points as a senior and had 1,160 in his career. "In addition to scoring, we are going to need to take advantage of our depth and learn to play a little more full court and get back to the level of team defense that we played at the end of last season," coach John Bruns said. "We should be a very versatile team this year as many players can play multiple positions. That should make us very tough to guard. Bruns, in his 15th year at Blooming Prairie, enters the season with 171 wins, seven off the all-time school record for coaching victories.
