STEWARTVILLE — Jacob Schaefer and Nick Hanson both had strong performances for Rochester Lourdes and the Eagles held off Hiawatha Valley League rival Stewartville for a 71-65 boys basketball victory on Monday.
Schaefer scored a game-high 33 points and Hanson added 19 as the Eagles (5-3 HVL, 8-6 overall) snapped a two-game losing skid.
Stewartville held a 36-31 halftime lead, but Lourdes outscored it 40-29 in the second half to secure the victory.
Aaron Quandt had a big game for the Tigers (5-5, 9-7), scoring a team-best 23 points, including making five 3-pointers. He was the lone Stewartville player to reach double digits.
A big difference in the game was free-throw shooting and attempts. Lourdes finished 21-for-34 at the line while Stewartville was 7-for-14.

Lourdes plays at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Chatfield, while Stewartville plays host to Triton at 7:15 p.m. Thursday.
