Albert Lea got four goals in the first period, three in the second and two more in the third as it blasted Rochester Mayo 9-1 in Big Nine Conference boys hockey Thursday.
It was complete domination by the Tigers, who moved to 5-4 in the Big Nine, 8-7 overall. Mayo slipped to 7-2, 11-4-1.
"Albert Lea outperformed us in every aspect of the game — speed, intensity, grit — you name it, they were better," Mayo assistant coach Todd Huyber said.
Alex Claasen, Jack Pulley and Dalton Flatness each had two goals for the Tigers.
Mayo's lone goal came from Austyn Renn, unassisted in the second period.

Mayo goalie Chris Wileman had 22 saves. Albert Lea goalie Garrett Matz had 21.
