LOURDES 4, MONTICELLO/A/ML 1
Eagles win streak hits six
Rochester Lourdes turned in an effort that is becoming typical for the Eagles on both ends of the ice.
The No. 10-ranked Eagles received scoring a balanced scoring effort — one goal each from four players — in a 4-1 victory against Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake. The Eagles also limited the Moose to just 11 shots on goal.
"We didn't come out right away ready to play," Lourdes coach Josh Spaniol said, "but we picked it up in the second and third periods."

The Eagles could have built a bigger lead in the first period, but a couple of their shots hit the pipe.
Jason Samuelson (one goal, one assist) and Alec Brandrup (two assists) had multiple-point games for Lourdes (18-2-0).
Justin Dewitz, Landon Farrell and Brian Wasz had one goal each, while Alex Funk, Andy Benner and Rory Vesel each had an assist. Nick Heimer made 10 saves to earn the victory.
Spaniol said Funk and Farrell had tremendous games on both ends of the ice. That strong two-way play is something the Eagles will need to carry into their next two games, Saturday against No. 5-ranked Breck (2 p.m., Graham Arena) and next Tuesday at top-ranked St. Thomas Academy.
"We're excited about it," Spaniol said. "We'll get to see who we are and what we're all about."
