MANKATO — Red Wing again played a Section 1A power to a close game, only to fall by a goal. Four days after falling 3-2 to defending section champion New Prague, the Wingers took last year's section runner-up, Mankato West, to overtime before falling 2-1.
Adam Defore made 45 saves for the Wingers (0-4-0 Big Nine Conference, 0-6-0 overall). Tyler Defore scored for the Wingers in the first period. Red Wing has suffered four one-goal losses.
West didn't score until 6:44 into the third, a power-play goal by Austin Langworthy. Jimmy Miller scored with 52 seconds remaining in OT to win it for West (3-0-0, 3-1-0).
