Jacob Johnson made 43 saves for the Packers, while Chris Wileman stopped 18 shots for the Spartans.
It's the only meeting of the season between the teams, which means Mayo gains four points in the standings and is in a tie with Faribault for second place, behind conference-leading Mankato West.
