ROSEMOUNT — Rochester Century outshot Rosemount, but the Irish scored once in each period to top the Panthers, 3-1, in a non-conference boys hockey game on Saturday at the Rosemount Community Center.
Rosemount received a pair of power-play goals from Conner Langfield, and a secnod-period goal from Josh Winter that was the game-winner. It was also the only even-strength goal allowed by Century goalie Eric Rohleder (19 saves).
Century outshot the Irish, 31-22, including 16-10 in the third period.
The Panthers (0-2-0) pulled within 2-1 at the 6:43 mark of the third period when Luke Klugherz scored on a power play with an assist from defenseman Nick Raehsler. In all, Century was 1-for-7 on the power play, while Rosemount was 2-for-4.
Century jumps into Big Nine Conference play with two games this week. The Panthers play at Albert Lea at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, then face Rochester John Marshall at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Rochester Recreation Center.
