PRIOR LAKE — Mayo just missed pulling off an upset in the first round of the Section Three boys lacrosse playoffs, falling 6-5 to Prior Lake.
Mayo was the No. 10 seed, Prior Lake No. 7.
The Spartans, who trailed 3-1 at halftime, came back to tie the game in the fourth quarter. They scored one goal in the third quarter, three in the fourth.
Prior Lake scored with a minute left in regulation
Mayo got another strong game from Michael Patterson, with three goals. Mike Fix added two goals and and assists and goalie Troy Penz stopped 23 shots.
