OWATONNA — Abukar Fakrudin scored three goals and Owatonna broke open a close game in the second half en route to a 5-0 win over Century in Big Nine Conference boys soccer on Thursday.
Owatonna led just 1-0 at the half. But a Century player picked up a red card about 10 minutes into the second half and the Panthers were down a player the rest of the game.
"That wore us down," Century coach Hal Houghton said. "We had a lot of opportunities and we had some good opportunities with 10 guys. But they're a good team."
Century scored two goals in the game — one in each half — but both were waived off due to offsides.
Houghton cited Connor Watkins, Ben Mackey, Matt Christianson and Billy Smith for their solid play.
