The Austin Bruins beat the Alexandria Blizzard by a 3-2 score on Friday night in a North American Hockey League game at Riverside Arena.
The Bruins came into action after a split series against the Bismarck Bobcats. It’s the first home game at Riverside since Pink Night where the Bruins raised more than $22,000 for breast cancer research.
The visiitng Blizzard came into action this weekend after a split with the Aberdeen Wings and fourth place in the Central Division.
It was all Blizzard in the first period. Alexandria scored just 2:33 into the event. Reid Sturos scored the goal on the rush; it was Sturos first goal as a member of the Alexandria Blizzard. The Blizzard than added another goal on the power play for a 2-0 lead.
The second frame was all Bruins as they continued to pick up the pace. Jordan Greenberg shot one past Blizzard goalie Jake Williams as the Bruins picked up their first tally of the night. Assists went to Charlie Adams and Alex Tesensky.

The Bruins than tied it up 2-2 as Tesensky was able to get a stick on a loose puck in the slot, Assists went to Jordan Greenberg and Michael Matthes.
With the game tied up after the second period, both teams hit their locker rooms geared up for period number three. The Bruins started the final period with a power play as Trevor Waldoch hit the back of the net. Assists on the goal went to Jordan Greenberg and Michael Matthes.
The Bruins were able to hold on to their one goal lead and get the victory 3-2. The Bruins take on the Blizzard tonight at Riverside Arena.
