Bruins lose in overtime

It took overtime to decide a winner in Saturday night's hockey game between the Austin Bruins and the Coulee Region Chill at Riverside Arena.

After a win on Friday night in the first game of the weekend set, the Bruins were looking for a home sweep. Although it was close the whole way, the visiting Chill scored the decisive goal in overtime for a 4-3 win.

Continuing their trend from the night before, the Bruins scored a short-handed goal in the first period of the North American Hockey League game. Jordan Greenberg scored at the 6:24 mark of the first period for a 1-0 lead.

John Kirby added to that lead for the Bruins later in the first period. Kirby scored an unassisted power play goal at 12:24 and the Bruins would hold a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period.

The early lead didn't last for the home team as the visitors scored a pair of goals in the second period to tie the game. Each team then scored a goal in the third period to force the extra session.

Greenberg scored his second goal of the night about midway through the third period to give the Bruins a 3-2 lead. But the Chill tied the game again inside the final two minutes of the third period.

Bruins goalie Eamon McAdam made his second start in the net and recorded 44 saves in the loss. The Chill (11-5-2) scored at 2:19 into the overtime to gain a split of the weekend series.
