Century defeats Lakeville North

Jacob Nelson and Noor Mohamed teamed up for a pair of first-half goals to lead Rochester Century to a 2-1 non-conference boys soccer win Saturday afternoon at Century Stadium.

Nelson scored both goals on passes from Noor, and Century's defense pitched a shutout in the first half. Thomas Crutcher made six saves for the Panthers in goal.

Century coach Hal Houghton said Crutcher got strong support from the Century defense.

Century improved to 8-4-1 overall and is 4-1-1 in the Big Nine Conference.

The Panthers have three regular-season games remaining, all this week. Century is home against John Marshall at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

NORTHFIELD 6, JM 0

Rockets lose third straight

Rochester John Marshall failed to score for the third straight game and lost its third in a row Saturday at JM Stadium.

Northfield (8-3-2) scored five goals in the first half and cruised to its second straight win, and fifth in its last six games.

JM dropped to 1-11-0 with the defeat. The Rockets have been shut out nine times and have scored only six goals all season. Ryan Yetzer made 14 saves in a busy game in goal for JM. Yetzer played in place of Jacob Garvey, who was out with an injury.

JM has three regular-season games remaining, all this week. The Rockets play host to Century at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
